Underwater Shipping Inspections
Kew Commercial Diving Services
At Kew Diving Services we are here to make sure that everything is ‘shipshape’. Whether you need us to check your vessel for maintenance or damage, price up the cost of any repairs or produce a buyer or seller survey, our detailed shipping inspections can be undertaken in any location in the UK and even worldwide without the need to dry dock.
Our underwater ship inspections can be carried out on any size vessel and involves our divers going below the waterline to check the condition of your craft.
We will survey all submerged parts of any vessel to see if there is any damage to the hull plates and propeller blades (such as cracking, bending or chafing), that your anodes are not worn out or eroding and that your sea chest grids are not clogged.
Equipped with the latest technology, including high resolution cameras and CCTV video, our specialist divers can provide a full report including technical drawings and CADs (if required) on any potential defects found.
Prevention is always better than cure and although a ship inspection may sound costly, it could save you money on repairs in the future.
If you are looking to purchase or sell a second-hand vessel, then you need to know what its current operational condition is like for valuation purposes.
At Kew Diving Services, we can carry out a full underwater inspection that lets you know any potential problems in advance. The same applies for those seeking clarification for insurance purposes.
Confined spaces and difficult environments
We know that working within confined spaces can be both hazardous and physically demanding. Our experienced divers are fully trained, have the correct equipment and always work in accordance with the approved code of practice, to perform confined space entry work safely and efficiently whilst in the wet.
At Kew Diving Services our expert divers are able to mobilise at short notice to undertake inspection and remedial works in ship holds, sewers and wells, culverts, and tunnels to name.
Our divers are accredited with CSWIP 3.1 and 3.2 certification, which means that they can carry out surveys from ultrasonic thickness to cathodic protection in locations including bridges, jetties, and piers, where there is little or no visibility.
Why choose Kew Diving Services
Whatever your vessel requirements, we can carry out a full underwater ship inspection on your behalf, in lieu of dry docking.
Our qualified and competent divers are used to taking the plunge on a regular basis and are used to resolving issues that save our clients time, effort, and money in the long run.
